Pop-Up Science Carnival - Science Literacy Week

Join Mount Royal University's Faculty of Science and Technology for the launch of Mount Royal's Chemistry major and celebrate Science Literacy Week!

Thursday, September 20, 2018

5 - 7 p.m.: Pop-Up Science Carnival

Getting to the talk is half the fun! To celebrate the launch of our new Chemistry major, MRU is hosting a Pop-Up Science Carnival. Let MRU professors help you explore the science of food through hands-on experiments!

7 - 8 p.m.: "Have You Ever Wondered..." by Joe Schwarcz

Have you ever wondered why for years and years there were no red M&Ms or how do they get that maraschino cherry to float in the syrup inside a Cherry Blossom? What is the link between the bombardier beetle and the V-2 rocket? Why does popcorn pop? Why are there holes in Swiss cheese? Have you ever considered why witches supposedly use broomsticks as a method of transportation? Can chocolate really make you fall in love? After this presentation you’ll wonder no more!
